I have a friend from PA who pronounces them "fill" and "pill". I've always thought it was a regional thing.

Crazy that people say it differently than you do. Ask Google how to pronounce it and it says it the way you do. I wonder if those same people say eel and ill wrong too? 🤔

Oh my gosh, well, I have one as well. It’s not an annunciation. It is a group of words that are not to be put together. Let me give you an example; “ could you pick up those ones from the counter that I would like to buy.” or. Let’s pack up our clothes and bring those ones with us. What the hell is going on with this mostly younger generation that didn’t have an English course in either grade school or high school. They just cannot leave it with the word those they now all seem to add ones. Drive to me up the wall.

I say them both the same as you. I don't think I've heard differently. Milk, bagel, feel and peel...how you pronounced them are the proper pronunciation.
