I just finished big lawsuit over fraud - still waiting on verdict - but I photo documented everything and what I learned is take pre and post photos of EVERYTHING - you may never need them but may protect you from next guy like this

You need to do a zero dollar quote/invoice. List everything you’re going to do to resolve and walk away. Make the client sign it.

Why would you further that customers bad habits. Get the documents from that arborist. Tell that customer that if he would like he can see you in court. Businesses need to learn that they can in fact fire customers. No amount of give will ever satisfy that customer.

I learned early that all money isn’t good money. Now, determining what’s good or bad money prior to initial service is a little trickier.

Why would I sue my pressure washing guy over a little patch of dead grass? Easy fix when it's not 857 million degrees outside... I have a funny feeling it was a combination of chemicals and sun scorch. The guy did a really good job, and we hired them to do a few other odd jobs around the house because a good contractor is a hot commodity in my area and a little grass is NOT the end of the world.

Will do this as a strategy to have their bills comp’d. you mentioned his bill was taken of, so he got a $600 job for free and now is leaning on you for a new landscape install. I’d cease contact and if he sues, he sues.

These are the kinds of customers that you fire because they aren't worth the headache. Sorry you're dealing with this. Best of luck
