If anything this bill makes kids less safe - Kids these days are on tech all day everyday, they know how to use VPNs to bypass this. Not to mention kids don't have the money to pay for proper safe & secure VPNs so they'll be looking for 'Free' VPNs which come with their own security risks

Verifying MY age isn’t what “keeps a child safe”. A child not being able to verify THEIR age is what keeps a kid safe. Me using a VPN doesn’t affect anyone

No thanks, let the internet be free access and leave parents to dictate the safety of their children. There are plenty of ways to do so on their devices as well as through your modem/internet box

It scares me that they need my age to save a kid, why not just do it without me having to type my age in and taking a photo of my face to see certain news or mental health websites😂😂 like why do they need my information again just to do the job they were employed to do? I mean if it’s to keep kids safe why does it matter if the adults work around it? I mean they do it with other laws like no get togethers while Covid was in full swing but maybe it’s just one rule for one and not for another😂

I would agree with the online safety rules IF it only included pornography but people are losing access to important information regarding addiction, puberty, and LGBT resources. What could have been a turning point in the safety of kids has turned into a bid for total control of what people can access.

How is me, a 38 year old woman, having a VPN to stop an authoritarian government tracking me harming any children?! I cannot see how, in any logical way, however absurd, this has any link to child safety.

there is absolutely nothing in that online safety build that actually safeguards children. teenagers have already found a way to circumvent it by using pictures they find online. because of the way this is being implemented this is the same as when the conservatives were talking about trying to put in ID laws for social media. even the reviews concluded that it would be detrimental for minorities and endanger people.. especially those who had been suffering from some kind of domestic issue or other family problems. moreover they couldn't even be bothered to make government agency for this no they had to outsource it to more private companies. companies that have been hacked and this not that long after it came out that the government had already managed to compromise thousands of people's information. if the government was actually interested in protecting children what they would do is give then the tools to safeguard themselves. they would teach media literacy, social media literacy, critical thinking and internet safety as standard. much like there are rules for not leaving your children at home why couldn't they just make it a requirement to have parental controls automatic in your Wi-Fi signal and lets you specify otherwise with passwords.. make the mistake this is about money in control it was never about safeguarding children
