Exactly. “Third World” was derived from the French term “third estate,” and due to its association with the French Revolution, the term had revolutionary connotations. Thought they didn’t develop this terminology, African and Asian nations adopted the term to signal their nonalignment with the Cold War rivalry, which really was just imperialism revamped, especially at the Bandung conference held in Indonesia.

I thought it was 1st world was the USA power and allied nations the seconds was the second world power the USSR and it's allies and countries that didn't choose were said to be a 3rd world read it a while a god so probably wrong

this is why I get frustrated with people calling America a 3rd world country. America is the first world and is richer than every other nation. wealth also isn't measured by its citizens quality of life.
