is it perhaps bc Judaism is an ethno religion and so some families want a child ethnically like them? like I know depending on what branch of Judaism youre in, your jewish-ness depends on which parent is Jewish. idk if that makes sense.

My paternal family and DNA is Jewish, but the whole family is Catholic since a little before my great grandmother immigrated from Germany in the 19-teens. My grandfather wasn't even allowed to let it be known he spoke German, none of them would have admitted being Jewish. I wonder if that has anything to do with your donor being Catholic. 🤔

It’s because evangelicals won’t allow their kids to go to none-evangelical homes where they won’t hear the gospel because then their kids might go to hell. They do this with adoption also, which is why the Liberty Godparent Home was such a big thing.

my story is the opposite. my parents were Jewish, my donor is 100% not. I grew up with people thinking I was Irish (Scottish actually) my mom and I always thought we looked alike, it was the hair color and complexion, until we met my half-sisters.

My theory is that they placed religion above all other factors so they didn’t have to actually match any physical factors. It was a CYA - oh your kid doesn’t look like your husband? Well we didn’t have anyone within your religion who matched that aesthetic. It gave them unprovable plausible deniability.

I looked it up and ancestry said I’m 5% ashkenazi Jew, so almost a negligible percentage, but I was raised in a Christian-based household that wasn’t very religious at all, we just celebrated some of the biggest holidays
