You might be sharing a US-specific perspective, but transmission through birth is still a thing! ART access for pregnant ppl in the Middle East and North Africa is still under 50%, and Trump’s bullshit with PEPFAR has fucked things up even more. Internal estimates of the number of kids that’ll get HIV through breastfeeding and/or pregnancy this year are well over 100k. That’s >3x the number of new HIV cases every year in the US. Wish it wasn’t the case, but we can’t write it off.
