The nature in which the muscle changes shape 3-dimensionally influences the muscle gearing (ratio of muscle fascicle shortening velocity to whole muscle shortening velocity). The problem is, these dynamic contractions are hard to analyze and therefore difficult to quantify the effect of morphology on function. In this single leg 45-degree hyper demonstration by @angelaborges, you can see during the eccentric-to-concentric transition, the hip extensors contract concentrically and her adductor magnus goes from bulging to almost hidden as it moves inferiorly and medially. So the muscle changes shape but also the moment arms (leverage) change as the muscles contract. How this impacts the hip extension torque generating capabilities of the glute max versus the adductor mag remains to be quantified, but you can clearly see it visually. #fypage #trainerreacts #trainertips #glutegrowth
