I think the heart of the issue is why doesn't bro like giving gifts? Is it like an anti-materialism thing, does he think presents are frivolous, is it fear of picking out something they won't like? Cuz I kind of identify with all of the above on some level, I don't give a lot of gifts, but I'm almost always happy to treat someone to a meal or a drink. I know that's not the same though.
