Consider the expectation of transparency: Kids can (and should!) use AI, but they must provide each iteration of their work, and provide a rationale for how they engineered their prompts, and any changes they made throughout.

My students do on-demand writing on a locked browser. No spell check, no grammar check, no help at all. Body paragraphs begin with a topic sentence. They are followed by a fact or detail sentence, and enhanced by an evaluation or analysis sentence. Subsequent fact or detail sentences may be added until you get to a transitional sentence at the end of the paragraph. When I run into a student smart enough to write an AI prompt that will meet my expectations, I won't have to worry about their ability to fend for themselves.

i fear this already has started happening in my school, and since the teachers use AI to generate prompts they often bombard us w excessive work, then realize they cant grade all of it.

People try to compare AI to previous generations using Wikipedia. Like no?? We had to find the information, read it and type it in a way that we thought would fool our teachers and rarely did so usually ended up having to redo it anyway. AI makes a unique response for each person that the student doesn’t even read or attempt to comprehend

biggest issues I see here is how does 'to kill a mockingbird benefit the education of a young person in today, society, economy, or culture? why are we still reading outdated history book instead of updating the curriculum. just because you read it in school doesn't mean kids today have to. Refuse to progress and adapt and go the way of dinosaurs.
