If Trump rigs the jobs data to suit his politics, it won’t just fool voters—it will rattle markets, push investors away, and start killing the very economy he claims to protect. You can't Make America Great Again by turning it into a banana republic.

I’m no Trump supporter but Trump made the right call. I’m glad we have a President with business experience who knows how to make the number go up.

On the political “bias” note, she was also confirmed 86-8 by the Senate

It's no longer a "conspiracy theory" that Trump is cooking the economic data. Now we know that anyone who puts out negative data will be fired.

I find it strange that a modern country like the US does not have a national registry of workers, and instead have to rely on surveys and extrapolations.

Doge should fire the people working in the buereau. Trump will give us the numbers by himself. He knows best.

Yeah as someone who has been unemployed and actively job searching the past 11 months, I could’ve told them that lol. Not only have I gone from getting some responses to 0 responses, there are noticeably fewer jobs available to apply for. And the ones that are listed are all like “Surgeon” or “Ice Agent” or “grocery clerk, $8/hr”

I don’t know the hierarchy of leadership in BLS but hopefully the team under the new BLS commissioner isn’t asleep at the wheel. What happens next matters more than what already slid 🙄

I understand you. But many will need you to explain this with a crayola crayon and use smaller words.

This is exactly how Trump ran all of his businesses into the ground. If he didn't like the numbers, he fired you and found someone who could "produce" data that suited his distorted vision, then inflated the value of his buildings so he could get more loans.

why do you think the estimates for May and June were so inaccurate? I understand they were just estimates, but estimates are only useful if they are somewhat accurate. I was surprised they were so inaccurate

They realized they had "overestimated" (i.e. lied) way too much for May and June and a drop to 73000 would look too bad. So they are revising them and blaming it on one person to deflect and so they can say the increase to 73000 is good.

But hey, if the economy is slowing down, it means the Fed can cut rates. And that’s what Trump wants, right? So why is he mad and wanting to fire the leadership to cook the books to make it less likely that he gets the rate cut? He’s his own worst enemy!

I hire a weatherman to accurately report the weather. if the weatherman could not so that, the weatherman is getting fired, yes

Suspect it’s also very much about that 73. Based on the trend and what we know is going on, that 73 is likely actually negative when it gets its final update.
