My Dad (worked non profits his whole career) missed my mom’s last bday as she was dying of cancer because the board said he “needed to be at the next meeting to show his commitment to the mission”. It was a regular meeting they had every week which they had been fine with him missing for work related stuff countless times. 🤦🏻♀️
