@explorewithfestus_: Starting January 1, 2026 — it’ll be illegal for Ontario employers to ghost you after a job interview. If they call you in for an interview, they must follow up within 45 days. No reply? That’s a violation of the law. But that’s just one part of the Working for Workers Five Act. The full law includes big wins for job seekers and workers: • Employers must stop posting fake jobs they don’t plan to fill • Interview feedback will be required by law — no more silence • You won’t need a doctor’s note for the first 3 days of sick leave • Remote workers now get full occupational health and safety rights • Maximum corporate fines increase to $100,000 per violation • Mass layoff protections are extended to remote and hybrid workers • Temp and agency workers gain stronger protections too • More rules are coming to crack down on exploitative hiring practices This is one of the strongest worker protection laws Ontario has passed in years.
