johto my favorite region not blinded by nostalgia i think johto is good for its story, soundtrack, characters, got a lot of goated pokemon, and the starters are goated yes even chikorita people be hating it for no reason

Design wise Johto has some of the best world building and music. However the characters don’t really represent the region well. Most gym leaders use majority of Kanto pokemon in their teams. The pacing of the game falls off mid game and the level scaling is abysmal. You can’t even get some Johto pokemon in Johto at all. And most evolution items are locked to postgame. HGSS would definitely be the best games if they actually didn’t have these issues
