I agree with what Neil said, except for what he said about Interstellar. They couldn't figure out how to terraform any planet which is why they couldn't save Earth. They were looking for a new planet to just survive on, not to terraform it. And they lied about shipping everyone, that was never part of the plan. The plan was to just get that small team there to survive and continue the human species well everyone on Earth dies.

But Terra forming earth would be beneficial to every race, religion, nationality, gender, status etc. and if there's one thing we can all agree on is that, greed and hate are the number 1 emotions felt by those in power. They'd rather terraform a foreign planet for a select few.
