@mollzfahdays: I fell in love with my psychiatrist series! What are everyone's thoughts??? Let's talk about it #psychiatry #psychiatristseries #storytime #viralstory
She says that he DID talk to her about transference and cross-transference. So he DID acknowledge that yes...this is something that happens and these are the reasons why. Therapists are trained to acknowledge this and to WORK THROUGH THIS with clients, without shaming them. They also typically DON'T refer them to someone else when this happens though, because certain mental health conditions come with a deep fear of rejection and abandonment. How would you feel if you admitted something deeply personal and scary to your provider...like the fact that you're having inappropriate feelings for them....and they immediately drop you and abandon you? Are you EVER going to admit to things like that in future? Probably not. You're going to hide them and feel shame and they may inadvertently escalate to an even more DANGEROUS place (stalking, kidnapping, violence...) with the next provider she catches feelings for. They are literally trained instead to work through this. And by her own admission....he NEVER CROSSED AN ETHICAL BOUNDARY...NOT ONCE. It is all completely in her own head!
Speaking as someone who has ADHD and sees a psychologist on a regular basis (btw...they are med management only. They don't DO therapy. That's why she ALSO had a therapist. So he likely only saw her for UNDER a half-hour, once a month. Less than 6hrs per year....and that was enough to create a torrid love affair with a married man in her mind?) for medication management. He asks very surface-level questions to see how the medication is working out for me....but he does NOT do therapy at all. (and yes...he's a great listener. You know...kind of like IT'S HIS JOB TO BE.) 🤦🏻♀️I have so much empathy for this poor doctor. 😢 And legally....he can't even give his "take" or refute anything.
