@kg: Kevin Garnett shared his thoughts on why international players often arrive in the NBA more polished than their American counterparts. He pointed to structured training, earlier exposure to pro-style systems, and playing against grown men from a young age. According to KG, many American prospects rely too heavily on athleticism and highlights rather than fundamentals. He praised the European system for producing smarter, more team-oriented players who understand the game at a deeper level.
International players are smarter, more teamoriented and more adaptable. US is just athleticism nothing more😂

There is something to be said for international players mostly growing up playing football until they get too big for that sport so basketball is the best option. I’m sure if you ask Wemby he would rather be up front with Mbappe playing for France and Real Madrid than playing in the NBA

KG's point about international players is so true they bring a different level of game and smarts to the NBA

All college coaches are predictable, they rely on flex offense and a 2-3 zone defense. There's a lack of innovation, focusing solely on winning NCAA games rather than preparing players for the NBA.

Nikola Jokic has a soccer and water polo IQ , sports he practiced extensively. The way he knows his playmate placement comes from water polo . All European have ⚽️IQ, they learned early on how to pass , to be altruistic and defend together and triangle placement to allways advance and cut line to attack . They were tested in different positions so they are versatile. One other thing due lack of budget , everyone is taught to respect their jersey ( no spare given but sold ) so it has a precious value to wear it .

I think personally they specialise too early, try doing other sports and incorporate other sports techniques, footwork, hand placements, etc in your basketball game to help you improve. It actually works vice versa, especially with soccer and basketball, the things you learn on defence in both games can be easily applied to both even though im not a professional player the footwork for basketball helped my become a great defender so I don't get beat or shoved out the way in the same the footwork and passing I learned in football helped with my ball handling, playmaking and vision for long passes handball help me make tighter passes or thread the needle theres a lot u can learn from other sports.

I think AAU is much more of a problem here in the states than we wanna recognize. When euros are training and practicing American kids are playing AAU where let’s face it teamwork and skills are secondary to stats.

Americans realising the there whole sport development system was designed to make money not to develop players, they will soon switch to a Euro model just like MLS did
