Replying to @user5673631818273737 Looking back, the most powerful thing in my application wasn’t just my stats. Obviously, your GPA and SAT/ACT scores have to be strong. That’s the baseline. But once you're in the range, the real separator is whether your whole application tells a cohesive story. Not just your Common App essay. I’m talking about your activities, your awards, your supplemental essays — the whole thing. Print your entire application out right now in the Common App PDF format (because that’s exactly how admissions officers read it). Then read it front to back. Can you clearly see who you are on paper? Does your application feel like it’s about a real person? Or does it just feel like a list of accomplishments? For me, my whole theme was about self-teaching — I tied it into my personal statement, my activities, and even my honors. That was my through-line. Even something unrelated like my drumming found a small place in the bigger picture. The goal is for someone reading it to walk away feeling like they know you. Not just that you’re impressive — but that they can imagine what it’s like to talk to you, to have you in class, to run into you on campus. And here’s something I think a lot of people don’t realize about how top-tier admissions works (this might not be 100% universal, but it’s how I understand it): your app gets read by one person. If they like it enough, they go to committee and literally advocate for you — like they’re your lawyer or your friend. That only happens if your application feels personal, human, and memorable. You don’t need to be perfect. You need to be real, and you need to tell a story. #CollegeAdmissions #CommonApp #IvyLeagueAdmissions #ColumbiaUniversity #Northwestern #Cornell #CollegeEssayTips #CommonAppEssay #CollegeApplicationAdvice #CollegeTips #AdmissionsAdvice #PersonalStatement #CollegeDecisions #HowToGetIntoCollege #TopTierSchools #ApplicationTips #EssayHelp #Supplementals #CollegeTok #IvyTok #GPA #SAT #ACT #CollegeVlog #Accepted
