@joan_kun.official: Please Don’t Be That Tourist part 2
When visiting Japan, it's important to respect local customs and spaces. Here are 4 common behaviors to avoid and how to be a thoughtful guest instead: ❌ N°4: Don’t sit on the floor in public places
In Japan, sitting on the ground in stations, streets, or shopping centers is often seen as inappropriate, not just because it can get in the way, but also for hygiene reasons. Public floors are considered unclean, and sitting on them can be viewed as unsanitary or careless.
✅ Instead: Look for a bench, waiting area, or designated rest space. If you're tired, take a break at a café or park. ❌ N°3: Don’t be loud or disruptive at temples and shrines
No shade toward the creator in this video, he doesn’t seem to mean any harm. But it’s a good opportunity to raise awareness about this issue. These are sacred, peaceful places meant for reflection and prayer. Loud voices are considered disrespectful to both the site and its visitors.
✅ Instead: Lower your voice, observe the customs, and enjoy the calm atmosphere respectfully. ❌ N°2: Don’t ride on, scratch, or damage historical monuments
Many of Japan’s monuments are centuries old and hold deep cultural value. Damaging them, even unintentionally, is not only disrespectful but can also lead to fines.
✅ Instead: Admire these sites from a respectful distance and take photos to remember your visit without touching or climbing on them. ❌ N°1: Don’t block passageways with bags or luggage
In the clip, a Japanese man can be heard saying he can’t get through because of the luggage blocking the way. Train stations and sidewalks can get very crowded. Leaving bags in the way can inconvenience others or even create a hazard.
✅ Instead: Keep your belongings close to you or use designated luggage areas and coin lockers available at most stations and in some train cars. 🙏 Small actions show big respect
By being mindful of your behavior, you help keep Japan beautiful and welcoming for everyone😊🙌✨ YouTube -> Joan Kun : The Real Problem with Japan's Tourism Boom https://youtu.be/oKHXR81UNt0 #japantraveltips #japantradition #lovejapan #japanovertourism

Sitting on the ground/floor is the most baffling to the Japanese. Also not respecting local culture is getting worst by the day by tourists. Please respect

I agree with all of them except the first one. ^^ because in the countryside or in certain cities we see Japanese people leaning or squatting in certain streets. ^^ the most important thing is to remain respectful

The exact reason that Japan is now fed up with tourists and starting 'Japanese only' establishments. When you go anywhere on holiday respect the culture
