How they plan on building this without rare earth minerals?

Even 20 years ago we all knew the YF23 was a great plane and regrettably not selected.

Why do we need a FAXXX program? The F35 is essentially a replacement for Harrier and the Super Hornet

The US made a massive mistake by not using the YF-23 for a naval jet. Currently US carriers are reduced in effectiveness employing the super hornet

tbh it makes sense that it looks like that. if it's a good design there's no reason for them to make a new one.

Forever bitter we didn't get both, or at least a limited run of the YF-23's 😩

Wait, an American made fighter with canards? Are you saying the faxx has canards? Or the carrier yf23?

The YF-23 was simply ahead of its time it needed us to advance before we deserved it.

It’s quite funny that as long as it’s an American aircraft that no one ever mentions how canards “aren’t stealthy”, whether it’s because they think we could somehow make them stealthy or they just don’t pay attention to the actual video. The rafale and euro fighter are commonly cited as being the stealthiest 4th gen fighters, and both feature canards. Sure the j-20 would probably be stealthier without them, but the difference between putting the elevators in front of or behind the main wing isn’t solely enough to ruin the rcs, and as said in the video, it could be largely mitigated with modifications to things like the radar absorbent coating

Why not combine Hermes scram jet with this next gen design? At some point there has to be a combination of speed and stealth for the “next gens” as we keep advancing in generations.

It would make a lot of sense if it incorporated a lot of the same design elements. Experimental aircraft serve to push the boundaries of aviation, but until the next big breakthrough hits, tried and true methods are the way to go 🤔😁

I like to dream that the YF-23 was far superior for what the original contract was out for. So they went with the 22 and kept the 23 under the sheets. Every time I see it it just looks too futuristic for its time.

I never understood they wanted a fighter that couldn't be seen and can take you out in stealth, so they chose the more maneuverable, less stealthy fighter. but I still love the f22.
