@jessicagoodlpc: Subtle dissociative behaviors in therapy clients are the number one thing that I see therapists miss when doing consultation. So many highly functional individuals are just drifting through therapy rooms not fully processing the source of their pain, especially in folks with complex trauma. #traumahealing #emdr #dissociation #therapytok

I didn’t realize how bad my dissociation was until I had a really intune therapist. I’m very high masking, now diagnosed with OSDD 3 years later

Omg this resonates with me SO much!! As someone who is “high functioning” but recognizes that I’m masking so often…do you have recs on next steps?

My therapist didn’t notice for the first 9 months until one day I brought it up in a session. Now she picks up on me dissociating and just notes it. She doesn’t pull me back out…and it kinda drives me nuts.

I had a therapist who picked up on this with me. I worked with her for a year weekly. I miss her so much. but my new therapist(who is also great) is building on the foundation my last therapist helped me build.

I’m so scared of another stressor, I don’t know how to be sad and I just keep getting physically sicker. One more loss and I know they will surgically remove part of my colon. How do you be sad? I just go to work… what else? I don’t know how to mourn or process? How do you grieve?

I named feeling spacey for my therapist in our second session, and he’s picked up on it every time since. I’ve worked with 12+ clinicians, but have never experienced attunement like this.

Me! Good career, academic success, family. Unless I’m in the room with someone it’s almost impossible to pick up (unless you also have cPTSD).

Wow! This was helpful, thanks for explaining! This is definitely me, minus any support or love from my family of creation. I’ve been masking for 40+ years and have just tuned into this…. freedom! ✨
