Not sure how anyone else feels but life got harder when I got clean. 12 years clean now. I just buried my only child 8 months ago. Forever heartbroken and trying to remain clean.

my mom is finally sober , she is working so hard to be better but everyone still sees the young lady who was 15 struggling with a broken home, getting manipulated by a man 5 years older (my father) the same man who introduced her to the poison she couldn’t let go of. her entire family was an addict, some still are & some are recovering. the generation trauma ran deep for her. i never gave up on my mama, i was evil in my words & i did not fully understand until i went through my own addictions. but we do recover & we do deserve grace. she was just a broken little girl who didn’t get the love she yearned for.

This is actually a beautiful song. How did you end up getting clean? I myself didn’t go through a 12 step program. I spent years going back and forth but I eventually got saved and God showed me I was partaking in these horrible things because I didn’t think I was worth anything but God showed me my worth through what Christ did on the cross. When I learned there is nothing that could fill the whole in my heart other than Jesus things became easier. I hope this helps
