I think this is a very upper middle class. many students from lower socioeconomic status backgrounds Don’t get the exposure for the skills necessary to navigate these spaces. Colleges need to add systemic supports at some level.

Such good advice. I wish I had stayed. My last day I took a Sociology class that I could tell was what I really should have majored in. I wasn’t brave enough to stay and see. I have been ok but with my son now leaving for school it has me feeling some regret. :)

not sure if this is good advice. Change your classes? Change your major? Not unless you are footing the bill. Kids need to learn about sticking with their decisions. Finish that degree. Then consider another field while your JOB supports you.

College gets a bad rap it seems nowadays. For me it wasn’t about the books and classes but time away from my family and figuring out who I was and what I wanted out of life. Ultimately that’s what college teaches you, to make choices and decisions that will determine the rest of your life.
