British Pakistanis have a distinct identity that is different to those who came before. They are entitled to celebrate that with a view that 'Pakistan' for them is more than a narrow Islamist ideal.

I don’t see what the issue is. No different than Saint Patrick’s Day when everyone’s out getting drunk. I’m glad the young Pakistani generation changing stop being so miserable get down Winslow Road yourself.

The reason why Islamophobia is becoming so rampant is BECAUSE of the people he’s talking about. Gen X first generation immigrants settled here for work and a better life and the younger generation have no grasp on their struggles at all 💔

So right! My dad went through Partition from Jalandhar to Lahore. He never spoke about it until recently and what millions went through was horrific. Funnily enough the people who went through the partition never celebrate on the streets on independence day. It should be a day of reflection and appreciation to the people who died.

Honestly, a lot of the comments come across as unnecessarily negative. I understand there will be pushback, but this kind of attitude is exactly why many younger people feel disconnected from Islam. Young people should feel proud of their heritage. As someone who is both Pakistani and Irish, I see plenty of Americans proudly celebrating St. Patrick’s Day just because they have Irish roots even if they don’t know much about Ireland. Yet, you don’t see Christian churches in the U.S. telling them it’s wrong. Pakistan itself was built through sacrifice and struggle, gaining independence from the British. To not celebrate that history feels, in a way, like disrespecting the effort and resilience of our ancestors. Culture is what gives us identity. Celebrating it doesn’t take away from our faith it strengthens it by reminding us of the unity, resilience, and identity that our ancestors fought for. And if we don’t keep these traditions alive, future generations will grow even further apart from their roots. Passing down pride in who we are is just as important as passing down our beliefs.

Some truths we don’t talk about enough… Being a Cancer Survivor means managing life during and after “active treatment”, one that doesn’t come with a paycheck, benefits, or days off. Life after cancer is its own kind of full-time job. Healing takes everything you have, even when it looks like you’re “done.” It’s clocking in every day to rebuild what cancer took. Your energy, your trust, your sense of safety in your own skin. Pain tolerance isn’t the flex people think it is. It’s not strength — it’s survival. It’s a quiet negotiation with your body: how much can I endure today and still call it living? Resting isn’t lazy, but it feels like it is. The world rewards motion, not stillness. But in survivorship, stillness is where the body relearns how to breathe. Feeling good can be terrifying, because you don’t trust it to last. You’ve been blindsided before, so joy feels like a dare instead of a gift. You know how quickly the ground can fall away. And then there’s “you don’t look sick.”Said with kindness, but often landing as an erasure. Because so much of this healing journey is invisible...the fatigue that lingers, the fear that hums quietly in your bones, the grief of being changed by something no one else can see. There’s a truth most won’t understand unless they’ve lived it: The hardest part isn’t always

Because so much of this healing journey is invisible...the fatigue that lingers, the fear that hums quietly in your bones, the grief of being changed by something no one else can see. There’s a truth most won’t understand unless they’ve lived it: The hardest part isn’t always "fighting" cancer, it’s learning how to live after it. But here’s what I’m learning... Cancer recovery isn't linear. Healing is still happening, even on the days I can’t see it. Rest is not weakness. And surviving isn’t where my story ends...it’s where it begins again, softer, braver, more awake. #fyp #cancersurvivor #cancerawarness #lifeaftercancer #cancersucks
