For the islands it wouldn’t work because you’d need huge power lines to run across the ocean to deliver the power. It would be way more practical to just build them out in the desert, which we should still 100% be doing

Funny enough, part of the reason is theirs too much energy. We don’t have batteries good enough yet to store the power. And who’s gonna fun that research? Certaininly not gas and energy companies lmao. So it’ll take decades to figure out all the issues through small independent research projects

also another reason is if we do this , we heat up the planet more due to this , the best way would for us to do it from space which would be pretty pricey.

The other comment said it’s really none about the energy about the containment. We don’t really have consistent batteries that can hold this energy for a while so for an example if you turn on your light at your house, it’s the energy that’s being made right then and in there so as it was being made, you were using that energy
