@thinktwiceworld: Marcus Garvey and WEB Du Bois were both Pan Africanist peers who fundamentally disagreed about how to achieve black liberation, which shows the diversity of Pan African thought. Who do you think was closer to the ‘right’ way?
Now this is the the type of podcast we need to have . Black love

Du Bois later significantly transformed his thinking - the end of his life was Pan-Africanist

I think there's one story where Garvey comes to America because of his admiration for Booker T Washington, who was already beefing with Du Bois.

hold up there's more to the story Marcus Garvey 100% was antithetical to the black labor movement meaning that working class black people were advocated to put their money into the back to Africa movement and not into collective movements that would empower them against industry. at the very end he also got indicted with embezzlement and stealing people's funds.

Solicited Opinions :
😒 No, Marcus Garvey did not come to the US to support W.E.B. Du Bois; he came to raise funds for a school in Jamaica, modeled after Booker T. Washington's Tuskegee Institute. After Washington's death, Garvey sought out Du Bois but the two men quickly developed an antagonistic relationship due to their opposing ideologies. Don’t confuse rejection for incompatibility.

Both of these men were kinda off. Atrocious towards the women in their lives. Garvey wanted a Judeo Christian Hyper KKKapitalist Ethno State in Africa. His org functioned much like a cult. He galavanized the Diaspora, but at what cost. Du Bois wasted most of his life tryna prove he was “human”, “smart”, & “worthy of rights” to vvhite people. I don’t really rate either of them. We should care about how our “leaders” operate as humans. Big up their accomplishments & be real about their limitations.

W.E.B. Dubois exiled himself to Ghana in his latter years out of disappointment over the state of Black America. Which essentially indicates that it was HIS ideology that was wrong.
