or... the gods we came to know by their physical descriptions aren't the gods themselves. rather, they are spirits, or fourth dimensional beings, that represent ideas. hephaestus's spirit, inhabiting the builder of the robot, later attached itself to hera's chimera, amused that it was built and not birthed.

maybe the first hephaestus was sick of working for the gods so he helped hera invent the other hephaestus basically as a puppet so he wouldn't have to deal with the gods himself.

I think it's because Zeus is the one who brought order and set things and when Kronos (the god of time) was in charge things were, time wise and everything wise, out of whack. only when Zeus's reign was set and solidified did everything become linear.

What if, it's cause by goddesses of fate, like three sisters, middle one changing mind in middle of myth happening that's why we have eerily similar myths, and Hephaestus present is caused by fates intertwining like mess and them trying to untangle but Hephaestus already was sent to this time then another, so are other gods if there's similar holes
