Growing up in chaos taught you that thinking harder could keep you safe. If you could just figure out all the possibilities, predict what might happen, and plan for every outcome, maybe you could avoid getting hurt. Your mind became like a computer running a million programs at once, always searching for the answer that would finally make everything okay. But all that thinking was never really about solving problems - it was about trying to feel in control when everything around you felt out of control. Your brilliant mind learned to work overtime, but now it can't turn off. When you overthink everything, it feels like you're doing something important to protect yourself. Your brain tells you that if you can just think through every angle, you'll be prepared for anything bad that might happen. But overthinking actually keeps you stuck in imaginary futures full of problems that usually never come true. While your mind is busy creating scary stories about what could go wrong, you miss the actual safety that might be right in front of you. Real safety isn't something you think your way into - it's something you feel in your body when you're truly present. Your thinking mind lives in the past and future, but safety can only be felt right now, in this moment. When you're overthinking, you're not really here - you're lost in your head, fighting battles that exist only in your imagination. Your body, though, knows how to recognize real safety. It can feel when someone is truly trustworthy, when a place is actually peaceful, when this moment is okay. But you can't hear what your body is telling you when your mind is too loud. Learning to feel safe means learning to quiet the thinking and listen to the wisdom your body already has. Every minute you spend analyzing, worrying, and planning is a minute you're not actually living your life. The present moment might be perfectly fine, but you're missing it because you're busy thinking about all the ways it could go wrong. It's like watching a beautiful sunset while spending the whole time worrying about tomorrow's weather. Peace lives in the present moment, but thinking pulls you away from it. When you're truly present - feeling your feet on the ground, noticing your breath, seeing what's actually in front of you - there's usually no real problem to solve. Safety isn't something you figure out with your mind - it's something you drop into with your whole being. Start small by noticing when you're spinning in your thoughts, then gently bring your attention back to your body. Feel your feet touching the floor. Notice your breath moving in and out. Look around and see what's actually here right now, not what might happen later. Most of the time, this exact moment is okay. You don't have to trust that everything will always be fine, but you can learn to trust that right now, in this breath, you are safe enough to just be here. #innerchildhealing #emotionaldna #anxietyrelief #healingtiktok #HealingJourney #emotionalintelligence #anxietyhelp #emotionallyimmatureparents #innerchild #cptsd #traumahealing #emotional #emotions
