#SUPERBAT: mutual pining at its finest (this is part 2 of my first edit + some more writing, might make an actual fic of this soon!!!) EDIT POV: bruce keeps thinking back to the day clark saved his life and saw him for the first time in months since they parted ways. his face replaying in his head like a song you can’t seem to quite forget. on the other hand, clark has been doing his best removing bruce from his memory, continuing his goal of saving lives and fulfilling his role as superman; convincing himself that saving bruce was just another life he rescued but bruce was no ordinary civilian. he couldn’t be written off as another person who had superman to thank. even if clark tried to convince himself otherwise. bruce continued his role as batman, meaning, when they call, he answers. although, his mind has been elsewhere since and it shows in his work. clark sees his symbol, curious; telling himself it’s best to ignore the sign but follows anyways, wondering what he could find. bruce looks into the sky only to see superman above him, submerging himself from the clouds settling his eyes upon him. with one look, they knew where to find each other. both meeting on top of the skylight building, exchanging looks that gave away everything that wasn’t once said. hope clawed it’s way at bruce’s chest, the thud of his heart loud enough to hear as clark confesses his want, his need to see bruce, even if it’s one last time, reconsidering all of his options and the feelings that bruce got a hold of when seeing clark for the first time again. clark loves to let people in. he loves to love loudly and proud. he loves to believe there is beauty in everyone around him, even those who hide it well. his love is unconditional. bruce hates to let people know what’s inside him. he hates to let anyone know behind his walls he worked ever so hard for to put together. he hates to believe that there isn’t cruelty behind everyones eyes. convinced, that all intentions are negative of anyone, even those who hide it well. he has only ever been loved conditionally. that is what infatuated clark the most about bruce. the way he thinks, the way his mind works in ways clark never fathomed. the way he carries his walls around him, stone in expression, cold in demeanor. everything opposite of what clark is. bruce grimaced at the idea of everything clark makes himself out to be. he believed it’s not possible for someone to hold a heart of gold, so beautifully as clark’s. he envied the good eyes that would lie on his. wishing he could see all of the good things this world had to offer in all of the bad that surrounded him. clark challenged the way bruce thinks of the world and the way people love. it twisted at his heart and wrangled around his head. for the first time bruce had met someone who was willing to give him love, unconditionally. fear, jealously, and contorted beliefs consumed bruce, doing the only thing he knows best; to push away good things when they come around. only in his experience, good things always come to an end. giving up this one good thing bruce got to experience had been the biggest regret he’s faced. only if he could have one more chance, give it one more time. maybe then he could learn what it’s like to love and be loved unconditionally. #superbatedit #superman #batman #fyp
