I’ve been a full time cake maker for 5 years, I was a head dental nurse for 10 years and took the leap during Covid. It is hard going, I’m not sure I would recommend it these days, I’m finding it harder and harder to make money. I do markets/food festivals and these are what keep me going! Obviously there are times of the year that are busier than others but it’s definitely not as busy as it once was. I would say if you’re going to do it then try part time first x

I’ve just handed my notice in to do it full time … I have no idea if I will make enough money or if it’s the right time , I’m literally just winging it and hoping for the best 🙏🏽🙏🏽🤣x

People say to me why don’t you do it full time, I’m in an area where there a loads of cake makers so I would worry I wouldn’t get enough orders, work full time 5 days one week and then 6 days the next week.. last year I was doing a cake a week but this year I’ve been only doing for regulars and found I’ve enjoyed having evens to myself and my other half xx

you've answered your own question. .Don't take the step. .. just keep things as they are capable your Brookings. if you have bookings that equate to the income you need maybe 🤔

As said on your other video, I am a coach driver. I’m also a mum and I was also doing cakes on the side but I had to knock it on the head as it was all too much. After driving around the country and then having to come home and bake a cake and see to the kids was exhausting just thinking about it and like you say, all the mess etc, it’s tough going! And I didn’t make a lot out of it so for me it wasn’t worth it. I do the odd one now and then or bake a load of cupcakes up for my fellow drivers at work which they love. Don’t wear yourself out for nothing! It’s a lot of hard graft! Do what you can manage and enjoy without draining your soul 🤗

i would say if you’re comfortable living on the money you get in your worst month and you’re turning away orders as you don’t have time around your full time job

I almost quit last Xmas because I was so over worked, overwhelmed and anxious, then my baking business took a turn and I now mainly concerntrate on working on my baking guides etc that I sell, I rarely advertise on my personal fb, but I do monetise from my fb business page and work hard on it 🤩
