I’m shocked they built that many SR-71s. Thought it would only be 6

Between him, Bob Hoover, and Patty Wagstaff are some of my favorite aviation pioneers I've met over the years.

Nerdy and cool 😎 Check out the limited AV-8 Harrier watch from Islander Watches. They worked with USMC to commemorate it when retiring from service. They opened up pre-order to the public - looks great, even has a lumed cockpit.

The name Habu comes from the natives of Okinawa. Which is where it was first based outside of the U.S. The natives thought that it reminded them of the snake and the pilots and ground crews adopted the name.

I just got mine too! I may have nicer watches, but none are cooler than this one. Couldn’t be more thrilled. Hope you enjoy yours!

I've seen one at the air force museum in Dayton and another at the AirZoo in Kalamazoo. The one in Kzoo is the only remaining trainer with two cockpits.

About 15 years ago, I got to meet Robert Gilliland, the first person to fly the SR-71. He also flew every single SR-71 that came out and more flight time at Mach 3 than anyone else.
