me, living with chronic illness since I was 18 (I’m 45 now) and hearing things like: “do you have any unconfessed sin that might be keeping you sick?”(from an elder visiting me in the hospital)…or “did you play with a magic 8 ball as a child, that could have opened a portal to evil, and maybe that’s what’s making/keeping you sick?” (that one was a DOCTOR)…or being told I should go down front at the invitation song, to make a confession about my eating disorder, as a highschool student…or talking to a “christian counselor” who then tried to Mad Men me and CALL MY HUSBAND TO DISCUSS WHAT WE DISCUSSED (never went back)…or, ya know, being assaulted by a doctor as a college student and then having to see his face sitting in church every week…good times, good times

Hi I’m the Mom .. only thing I can say .. I did what I thought was right at the time. 🤦♀️I have now learned it’s mental health. If I could go back I would do a lot of things differently. 🤷♀️🥹

I LITERALLY did not sleep in my bed for fear of being possessed by a demon after watching aa scene of the exorcist.I was so scared, my heartbeat was moving me& I thought it was a demon) Religious trauma is REAL!Went to priest,actually hurt,didnt help.
