@nopointknives: Special offer for a limited time as @lidlgb continue to break the voluntary agreement they signed up for. In their St Andrews Branch in Scotland, they've even gone further and have two baskets of Knives for Sale within easy reach of children. Thank you to one of our followers for spotting this and also everyone who has complained to Lidl directly. We can now confirm that after weeks of trying to convince Lidl without success, we have referred them to Trading Standards with a case reference of 2778716. #nopointknives #tracyslaw #pointless #letsbeblunt #lidl
Whilst I'm totally behind any initiative that prevents knife crime, banning pointed knives is unworkable. They're a tool, a necessity for certain jobs in the kitchen. That would be like banning hammers, the original intent of the tool isn't to do harm, it's to create. What needs to happen is better education for kids and investment in youth services to prevent the root cause of knife crime.

What has this got to do with trading standards?

Ahh yes, lets campaign to move more things out of the way of disabled people who already can't get to most things in this shop 🙄 nevermind us as per usual, we will suffer again just because some overly fussy people are putting the hypothetical children first again 🙄

TJ1977 :
nearly all shops sell knives this way, especially supermarkets. if a child wants to steal a knife for crime they don't need to do it from the supermarkets 🤔 the age restriction happens at point of sale not at shelf 😏

Ooo look at me taking pictures of a couple of sealed knives and the price.
I know for a fact Lidl have knuckled down on things like this. If a kid wants to buy a knife, they can't as it will be aged restricted.

The people complaining in these comments are the same people who think that crime’s ’gone mad’ these days. Everyone wants change without having to work for it

There isn’t a Lidl in St Andrews? Closest Lidi is either Cupar or Leven.
