I'm Catholic and I don't support Palestine. Equally, I don't support Israel. The Vatican should come to the Levant and bring peace to the region. To identify Catholicism with progressivism is a mistake. There are overlaps but the church really aligns with neither party and identifying as progressive only opens it up to criticisms from progressives who have a habit of eating their own.

I think it depends on the topic, when it comes to Palestine I agree they are mostly against Israel from what I've seen, but when discussing how they've supported colonialism I've seen much more pushback against holding the church accountable. I think it depends on the person
