1st semester grades are important for getting big law internships initially, but a lot of it is networking. If you strike out during 1L don't worry about it too much! The curve won't be as harsh in 2L and 3L, so if you want to do big law just focus on improving your grades then. A lot of 1L is the school telling you about how hard classes are, focusing on OCIs, and grades; but it's just scare tactics.

Law Schools will push you toward big law constantly, regardless or whether you have any interest. they want their alumni in those firms. dont drive yourself crazy comparing grades with your classmates. Take time for your mental health.
