24 Days of Christmas Appetizers Pt 4 🎄🎅 Sausage Roll Swirls 200g sausages (you can use chicken or beef too) Salt & pepper dash of thyme Express onion chutney: 2 red onions 2-4 tbs brown sugar 1 x tbs balsamic 60ml water 1 egg separated Honey, sesame seeds & rosemary for garnish If you’re using homemade chutney make it first: Fry onion 1-2 min add all the rest of ingredients, mix and bring to boil. Cover 5 min stirring every minute. Add more water if necessary until it’s a caramel consistency. It will thicken when it cools. Set aside to cool down (this will be quite quick on a plate) Preheat oven to 180C Empty the sausages from their casing and add salt and pepper and thyme. Mix with the gg white and set aside the yolk for brushing later. On the top half of the pastry sheet spread the sausage mix and then add the chutney (you won’t need all of it so keep it in a clean jar with the lid on and it’s perfect with cheese & crackers and will last up to 2 weeks in the fridge) Fold the pastry over and press down slightly., slice into approx 2cm wide strips. Twist and roll them up as shown. Add to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush with the yolk mixed with 1/2tsp milk and add sesame seeds. Bake for 28-33 minutes, even if the pastry looks golden don’t be tempted to take it out you want the sausage and pastry to be cooked all the way through. If it’s getting too dark turn it down to 170C for the last 10 min, Drizzle with honey or hot honey as soon as it’s out of the oven and garnish with rosemary. Enjoy D 🫶 #fyp #christmasfood #partyfood #christmasrecipe #sausageroll
