I disagree pretty heavily on this. Sure Susannah told him to stay home but then he also stayed with her the whole week and clearly they had fun together. He was a kid and wanted to hang out with the older boys. That’s normal kid behavior. But he did stay with her and wasn’t resentful or took it out on her. It genuinely looks like they had fun and implies that he chose to stay with her of his own volition the rest of the time just like she did for him when he got sick too
