@mamadontbreak: It gives me chills to see how far he has come. Cookie Monster has an IEP (individualized education plan), and with the new school year starting I wanted to offer some encouragement. I was warned that his autism may make it difficult for him to live independently. I remember thinking it was such a negative connotation, but as I looked at my little boy I decided it wasn’t going to hinder him from living the life he wants. When we discovered his love for motorcycles, it allowed me a way to connect with him and begin an adventure that I never imagined possible. I love being his mom, getting to see the world through his eyes, and having such a special kiddo remind me how precious life is each and every day. If your child has an IEP, that does not mean that they won’t be successful in life. So many big brains in history struggled with learning in some way.
