Remove the bacon and set aside - Add the Italian sausage to the pot and cook until browned, Remove the cooked sausage from the pot and set aside with the bacon. - In the same pot, add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes - Stir in the diced potatoes and pour in the chicken or vegetable broth. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
