@builderbrigade: 💡 Everything I wish I knew before Home Building is in my
checklist here 👉 BuilderBrigade.com
Island outlets can be tricky with the code that says the island outlets need to be mounted on the countertop. There are a few workarounds...
Option for island outlets:
1- Blank Outlet
2 - In-Drawer outlet
3 – Raised Bar
4 – Pop-up
What’s your kitchen island pick..? I’m going with the blank outlet because Kippy refuses a countertop outlet. Happy wife, happy life 👍

it's a national electrical code violation since 2023

It’s not illegal! It just not a requirement anymore to put an outlet on the island.

Don’t “wire an outlet under your sink” do wire it as its code to run a wire to the island for future receptacles

Also know that a lot of pop up outlets are not code compliant

In 22 when I was wiring homes we were required to put outlets at each end any island as well as L shaped counter. There was no requirement for it to be ontop. That was just an option a home owner could request.

I heard that you can get away with it by only using USB plugs, but I could be wrong but you could just have your builders put those in and then you could switch them to regular plugs yourself

You just have to have a means of installing an outlet on the island. Junction box under the sink. Follow you AHJ

Just going to run extension cords from the perimeter outlets to the island. This code is such a contradiction.

Wrong, we can have no requirement to have them on the counter top. We do though have a certain distance it has to be for the bottom edge of the counter top

It’s illegal only if your jurisdiction is using the 2023 code cycle. Or if AHJ specifically instructed you to do that
