@tealhousefarmfamily: After ten years on our rural homestead, we’ve decided it’s time to move back to town. And here’s why. #homestead #reallife #honesty #mom #homesteadingontheleft
I thought I wanted a homestead. Then I planted a garden and learned that is enough.

grew up farming and this is 100% the point. the farm couldn't run without the children's labor and my mom's sacrifice. dad worked off the farm and that should say it all. farming was his dream but he was the "boss" not the farmer.

Thanks for the information. We have a dream of having our own space land that we can mostly live off of. Not 100% we have a 3 acer place and can still walk to town center 10 minute drive to a small city. 25 minutes to a mid size city. 1.5 hours to Boston... This feedback helps me know we found that fine line.

Hey let’s normalize seeing 10 years of doing something different as a success! Just because you don’t do something forever doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good way to spend a decade. Who wants one lifestyle forever? Ew no. Enjoy your new adventures in your new home!

The domestic labor is insanity. I really don’t want to live on 80 acres. I dream of a townhome where someone does our lawn care and snow removal hahaah

I really appreciate your honesty about this lifestyle. So many influencers glamorize everything about it. You made me realize that I just want half acre lot with a garden and maybe some chickens!

Rural areas are going to be losing access to medical care at an increasing rate. You made the right decision.

Social media has romanticized homesteading and the reality is it’s a lot of work and very difficult to make a living.

You do what you need to do. 0 arguments there, BUT I wholeheartedly disagree that your dreams have to take a backseat to your children. Plenty of kids survived before without ballet or travel baseball.

I was raised on a homestead and it was so miserable for me. Thank you for taking your kids happiness into consideration 💖

Ah look at that! Parents who don’t impose their lifestyle and view to their kids. You’re a good mama 🥰

We just bought 2.5 acres super close to town, like 30 minutes max to the hospital and 15 to stores. My hubs wanted 10+ acres and I said hell no. I feel like we got the best of both worlds

We bought a 7 acre parcel but only because 2/3 of it are woods that I don’t have to manage unless I feel like it. People really underestimate what it takes to manage anything over 2-3 acres when you have to do it all yourself

I’m saving your video to use in my Real Estate business. I have so many clients that want to homestead and lots of people are moving here to SC with the same dream. But they really don’t understand HOW MUCH WORK it is. Also the investment in equipment can be cripplingly expensive. Great job sharing your story!!

My kids hate farming. So, I’m not fighting with them anymore. I’m closing my homestead too.

I sold my 10 acre farm too. The farm became a prison. I aged so much.

It would’ve never taken me 10 years to make that decision. Lol good luck to yall. It’s not that big of a change. Everyone will adjust and life goes on.

I kept telling my husband I wanted to live on a bunch of land. He said "Honey, we can barely handle the 1.25 acre property we have 😂". And he was totally right.
