@thepoliticalmommy: Groceries on Afterpay isn’t convenience - it’s a crisis. Do you think this says more about inflation… or about how broken the system already was? #costofliving #politics #hungry #fyp #america
a silent depression, where society and the media keep pretending it isn't real or happening. As long as no one pays attention, those with power can take more money and steal more wealth.

My family budgets very strictly every single penny is accounted for we never “splurge” or buy anything unnecessary. We have had to use our credit card to cover some cost of food recently, it’s truly sad. A little over a year ago my husband and I were finally getting ahead and saving money in both our emergency savings and our house savings which we worked really hard to do this year we decided to compare our budget books to last years budget book our cost of living went up $875 a month compared to last years. Truly sad. It’s not that we don’t work hard enough it’s not that we don’t handle our money well because we budget every month and very strictly it’s because of the economy.

For a 2-person household, a typical monthly grocery budget ranges from $500 to $1,000, though this can vary significantly based on location, dietary choices (e.g., vegetarian vs. meat-heavy), inflation, and whether household supplies are included. For example, a 2025 USDA estimate suggests a range of $614–$963 for a couple, while some sources show lower averages around $475, and other factors like location and diet can influence this further.

Not all jobs are equal people go to college and accept a job making 50k per year that’s a very poor decision .

It’s weird though with these statistics, because every time I go a restaurant, it’s packed?? Like if people can’t afford food at the grocery store, why are malls, restaurants, fast food, etc always busy??
