dear artists: never charge per hour. it doesn't account years you spent learning, your tech, your subscriptions and taxes and so much more. AND it punishes you for becoming more efficient. this method IS useful for absolute newbies but you should charge more as your expertise grows not less! ❤️

To me it always shows the time I spent with the said file OPEN. Not the time spent on actually drawing. I procrastinated an enormous amount of time on some chibis, keeping it on for hours on end. Therefore the work that objecyively lasted 1-2 hours of activity shows 15h spent on it. So it's definitely not an accurate tool.

Pretty sure minimum wage is like 15$ in my state and it takes me like 37 hours on each work. I am NOT paying for hourly because lets be real no one is paying well over 100 for my art

gang I took 15hours on a fully rendered with background piece.. if I did bare minimum of 15 an hour that would be 225 bucks 😭😭 nobody is gonna buy my art comms at THAT- (and i wanna be paid at least 25 an hour in the future but I feel delusional for that-) this is the comm I didd, usually my art ranges between 4-5hrs to now 15-20hrs for fully rendered pieces

if you dont use CSP and are on computer, check out Niel Cicierga’s Work Timer! it’s free and you can set it to any program you’re working in and also pauses after you tab out or stop working for a certain amount of time
