The real reason why one is done at a time is billing. If you do two at once the insurance pays 1.5 the hospital fee since the room only needs to be prepped once. If it’s done separately the payment is full fee for each surgery. It’s about the money not the procedure. It’s that way with most 2 sided surgeries.
