My Irish ancestors were starved, enslaved, beaten, and killed by the British. They sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in wooden ships amongst typhus, dysentery, measles, tuberculosis and other diseases in search of a better life. They built what we now call Canada. Nobody in my family or community lives like THIS even though they experienced immeasurable trauma!!!

Live a generation or even a day in their shoes. When you live on a fixed income, you try to make the most of every little thing you have. Having a car broken down or a washer broken down in the yard is the last of their worries believe me.
