@jenniferelle_: The corruption that exists in our systems as Indigenous people is an uncomfortable but necessary conversation. I’ve always tried to avoid stepping into this topic because I know it can be a heated one. But I also can’t turn a blind eye to things I feel are harmful for us. Our ancestors fought & struggled and we owe it to them to get it right. #cdnpoli #cdnpolitics #IndigenousTikTok
I always wondered how different tribes got tens of millions of dollars every year from the government, and their indigenous people are still suffering still without water still without paved roads still without homes🤔🤔🤔

How did colonization create dysfunction? All humanity has had conflict, scarcity, and hardships. Cultural grounding is the only path forward.

We slowly are moving but at a turtle race , Beaverlake reserve is doing a petition to finally let off reserve members run .but I find greed has become a constant issue.
I was talking with this white guy and he told me that he understands that FN peoples had their own governance system and he said that he’s sorry that his white ancestors taught us FN how to be corrupt

The federal government abolishing financial audits for the band in the name of "racism" did more damage than good.

but yet when we look at all levels of government we see blatant corruption, nothing is said or done. you get elected to collect a bag for you and your friends and then get hired on as a lobbyist to perpetuate the cycle.

The best perspective I was ever given here was Canadas system of governance has been around for over 800 years. Indigenous peoples got the right to vote 60 years ago. There will be mistakes.

holding everyone accountable is the only way we move forward but everyone is so concerned with what happened in the past that they won't give people their agency. horrible things have happened yes, but at a certain point you choose to not change.

Mandatory audits, yearly reports/reviews would benefit the indigenous as well as provide accountability. FNs not wanting to do this are obviously led by corrupt leaders

In BC very few bands have governance. They should not he treated as governments until governance is established.

Love your content. I work directly with First Nations in housing. Have for 10 years. I'm not indigenous. I see and have seen things that simply have affected the youth. I thought I could make a difference. After 10 years I have not yet. But always will try.

Greed is greed no matter the culture, race or colour. If all Canadians continue to allow this to continue from people who are suppose to represent us we are all 🤬. People in decision making roles are more about benefitting themselves now

I left my community to attend university SPECIFICALLY because I wanted to create change in my community. I returned home to a community that did not want change.
