For those confused - large windows with direct sun light make it hard to keep a room cool, even with AC. The bedrooms in the front of my house, which get direct sun all day are 5-7 degrees warmer than the rest of the house since the thermostat is centralized, not room by room.

Double roller blinds; one with sunscreen & one blockout. You can see through the sunscreen layer but it cuts heat & glare.

Have you thought of some type of external automatic horizontal shutters to match the brown colour on the garage doors as a permanent solution? I’ve seen them but don’t know how they work though.
