If anything, home kits have bottles because salons had bottles. They were replicating what stylists were using.. and it stuck around. I think it’s an old school way of doing things. Applying glosses/toners with bottles has been around a awhile!

It’s all about the consistency of the color for me. Cream color = bowl, liquid color = bottle. Gel can go either way
