Renting used to be the stepping stone to save money and buy a home because the tenant was not expected to pay the landlords full mortgage plus profit. Nowdays rent is way more expensive than mortgage but buying a property is impossible. Greedy landlords caused this. If they were reasonable and only own one or two properties we wouldn't be in this situation.

Landlords have insurance to mitigate risk, it covers boilers too. Almost as if the landlord on the call is being deliberately misleading 🤔

50% of landlords own their own home and one more, usually due to inheritance, I’d say tax starts on the 3rd home.. that would catch the actual problem landlords and excuse the half that are landlords by accident… simple

As a landlord when we buy a house the deposit is paid with money we have already been taxed on, we then pay a stamp duty tax, pay tax on our rental income, when we sell we pay capital gains tax and any profit left after selling if we put it into our savings then the interest is taxed again. I invested in a small way into property through my working life intending to make my retirement a bit more comfortable, so that I wasn't a drain on our broken system. I am now questioning why I bothered.

Landlords don't pay for repairs out of a kitty, they will have insurance on the property that they're already paying for. and if they don't? you can't afford to be a landlord - a decent one - anyway.
