yes! I hate mindset of “Nothing you can do about it, it’s just how it is” but at the same time, they’re so corrupt they’re buying votes😭😭

Its a cycle and why can't people wake up from it? It is simple actually, the Filipinos were "programmed" this way. We have this culture of opting to be silent rather than start a conflict. It is taught in by our elders and in school. Somehow this practice became a part of the "paggalang" culture. But that culture is slowly fading, the new gens are waking up. We now voice our concerns and question the corrupt practices of this govt. Hopefully in the upcoming elections, our votes can change the fate of our country.

Like you I was born but not raised there. My husband grew up there until his late 20’s, he never voted too because of how crazy the corruption is. During Covid, we watched all kind videos about decades of Philippine corruption. My husband would explain things to me as we watched, then there’s me crying all day for months and months. I have so much to say on this. This is just scratching the surface 😭

The politicians pay people for their votes so you know there is going to be corruption

I can get where your family friend is coming from though. The corruption there is so bad, you’re not even sure if your vote will count since a lot of the votes are either rigged or bought.

It’s insane because this issue is quite literally just the tip of the iceberg. There has been an ongoing corruption in the Philippines for a while. Think about all the other fundings that were meant for other infrastructures/developments of the country. There needs to be an active revolution to make a real change in the system, otherwise we will continue to fail and sweep this issue under the rug, once again.

Nothing significant will happen unless the people change their mindset. They’re trying to impeach a person that tried to tell them exactly what’s happening last year. The person that got them the closest to addressing corruption, they’re happy he’s in jail.

Hopefully the critique gets elevated from. I’m mad at the daughters of corrupt politicians for flaunting their wealth. To. I’m mad at the fathers and mothers of these influencers for stealing from us when elected and I’m never gonna vote for em again.

One of the first ones who has actually looked at the big picture...
It isn't just the big flashy ones that people are talking about. It is in the barangay halls and local government offices.
They gossip about it, but then when it is an aunt or uncle who is a fixer for the DoT it is perfectly fine and they get a lechon for their birthday...
