I am so ashamed that we allow children to be slaughtered in our country. How have we come to this? The 2nd amendment was referring to arming a militia.

As a Canadian and more importantly a mother, I have never understood why so many Americans are against stronger gun laws. I think every elected official who plans to vote against stronger gun laws should be forced to sit on a room before the vote, with the families of gun violence victims, look each grieving person in the eye one by one, and tell them each of them why the 2nd amendment is more important than the lost life of their murderer loved one, before they are allowed to cast their vote. If they can’t face the consequences of the past violence, they shouldn’t be allowed to vote for more of the same.

As an Aussie, we find this so tragic and awful and baffling. After the 1996 mass shooting at Port Arthur, Aussies said enough. Our CONSERVATIVE Prime Minister banned guns. Our school kids do not live in fear.

Taught English in Poland this summer. Polish staff had never heard of lockdown drills. Explained how we have to practice hiding -and we are required to practice them 5x a year. Getting a gun in Poland is incredibly difficult-even for the President.

I went to that school for 4th-6th grade. I couldn't sleep last night. my husband is a teacher and I have a high schooler. I spend the whole school year holding my breath every day and hope they come home safe. it shouldn't be this way
